The new email clients have been in for some while now, but I'm still trying to figure out a better solution for the password changer. FreeBSD worked quite well with the script I was using, however changes to passwd have made it incompatible for some time now. Cliff seems to think we need to be running something like webmin.

During the summer I plan to upgrade our email server so we can run the newest Ajax web client that we have just acquired (Tuxedo). This will add 1 more email client to the list in the last blog posting. Please comment on which email client (installed so far) that you prefer. If there is enough discussion we "may" change the link for the default email client on all the domain links to something you like better than Iloha.

The latest "Release Candidate" for Hastymail2 was released this morning:

Hastymail2

This is a very nice email client that I have added to our list of web mail clients. Hastymail2 like Iloha, Roundcube and Squirrelmail, are all FREE Open Source software web mail clients written in php. I have also requested that we purchase Tuxedo ($199) since it is was derived from both Roundcube and Iloha. Tuxedo and Hastymail2 both use the Ajax technology popularized in GMail.

Our list of web mail clients now include.

Hastymail2
IlohaMail
RoundCube
SquirrelMail

You can access ALL of these web mail clients from anywhere in the world NOW, EXCEPT from within the OLC college centers. This is because people in the centers have to wait for the Wanderz (sic) Active Directory DNS to be updated (something you have to have if we adopt student profiles).

I was approached this afternoon by members of the Student Senate and HeSapa Student Org about putting student profiles on the College Center Lab computers. The idea would be for students to log into the lab workstations with your student email username and password, to verify that you are an enrolled student and not there abusing the machines and wasting internet bandwidth.

If you think this is a good idea, you should get the other student orgs active BEFORE the end of the semester in case we would implement this during the summer.

Please take the poll on the right and/or comment on this idea.

Well it would appear that the student vote for replacing the email server was...
;-No

There will be a Tech Training class this Friday in the basement of the Culture Center. Space is limited so you need to email me in case we need a bigger room. Of course if you don't feel comfortable sending an email you can always call Cliff. ;-Cliff
